FAQ's

For general enquiries, it's best to check out our FAQs section listed below first before making contact as many of the most often asked questions are listed here - you are therefore likely to get an answer more quickly this way than by emailing us, or trying to call us out of hours.

You say that this dance is for anyone. I have 2 left feet, is it really that easy?
Ceroc is a walking dance. There are no fancy foot patterns, so it really is the easiest partner dance to learn. Naturally, there is a lot to think about initially as you will be learning a new skill, but our teachers are trained to break everything down into bite-size chunks to make it achievable for anyone.

I am on my own and don't have a partner. I'm quite shy, so will I be okay on this weekend?
Absolutely! Many people come to Ceroc on their own and make new friends on their first night. On this weekend, the welcome meeting and orientation lesson, will do wonders to bring you all together as a group right at the outset. Aside from that, the Ceroc Members from around the country are just about the friendliest and most welcoming people you'll ever meet.

Are there any age restrictions?

Minimum age is 18 and really there is no maximum age other than the obvious requirement to be mobile and to be able to move your arms and legs freely in a range of motion.

Do I have to pack any special clothes or shoes?

Not at all, Ceroc is very informal and relaxed so wear what you feel most comfortable in. Whilst you don't need 'special shoes' as such when you first start it is best to wear a shoe with a smooth sole like, suede,  leather or hard plastic rather than rubber trainers. if you can.

I read somewhere earlier that we swap partners regularly during the class? But do we have to?

No, you don't have to, you are free to do whatever you prefer. However, we can tell you that when two people who are brand new to dancing try the beginners classes it's actually easier if they can swap partners on a regular basis. This is because people of different abilities can help you learn by helping you get into the right positions - and we will have experienced 'taxi dancers' rotating with the beginners just for this purpose.

How many people will be at the event?
Whilst there will be around 500 dancers in attendance at this weekend, we are limiting the number of complete beginners to just 30 to ensure the beginners classes are not overwhelming and plenty of assistance can be provided by the teachers and crew. The Beginners sessions also have their own dedicated space to ensure you feel comfortable and relaxed while learning with no pressure.

Do I have to join in with the rest of the event?

No, you are free to do whatever you prefer. Enjoy the SPA and the leisure facilities, walks in the grounds, Golf if the weather permits, or even just enjoy staying in your room having some quiet time. That said, it is a great opportunity to see how a dance weekend works and how so many people of all ages and abilities mix in a truly social and inclusive environment - but it's totally up to you.

Am I allowed to wander into the other classes and non-beginner dance spaces?
Yes absolutely! You can watch any / all of the more advanced classes and are welcome into the evening social dances to practice your newly learned skills. The dance spaces are strictly for partner dancing and during your Welcome / Orientation Class & Meeting, you will be given some guidance to ensure you keep yourself and others safe on the dance-floor.

I heard mention of a pub quiz. What's that about and can I join in?
Yes, absolutely! The pub quiz is for teams of around 6 people. If you don't have a full team you can usually join a team. It'll probably be a good idea to get your team together after the Beginners workshop on Saturday morning.

What time are the meals and do they cater for people with special dietary requirements?
Dinner on Friday and Saturday is from 5pm - 7pm, Breakfast is from 7am - 10.30am on Saturday and Sunday morning.
As check out is 11am on Sunday morning, dinner is not included on Sunday, however, the restaurant will be open for a fabulous carvery on the Sunday which you can book and pay for separately if you wish to do so.
If you have any special dietary requirements or food allergies, please let us know and the hotel will be happy to assist.

Do I have to pay in 2 instalments? Can't I just pay the whole amount up front?
There are 2 separate payments that are made for this event. The first payment secures your booking and is made on-line. This covers the cost of your food and weekend event access. The 2nd payment is to be made to the hotel directly and this is for your accommodation. the 2nd instalment is due mid September and you will be given instructions of when and how to pay this nearer the time.

I don't seem to have received a booking confirmation?
Booking confirmations are sent out by our system for all purchases. However, sometimes they get diverted to your spam folder (so check there first) and sometimes they are deleted by your email manager without you seeing them - this is more often the case with Hotmail and Yahoo accounts but also with Gmail now too. The general rule is that if money has been taken from your account, then your booking is confirmed. If you are in any doubt please do contact us via our contact page HERE and we'll look into it for you. We will be able to create a duplicate confirmation email and be able to double check the email address used at the time of booking to ensure all future emails are received.

I am getting married. Will this weekend be any good for choreographing a wedding dance?
By the end of this weekend you will have learned a sequence of moves which would be a huge help in making you confident for your first dance. If you decide you want something a little more 'flashy' or specifically choreographed, this weekend is the place to hire a teacher who will be able to help you. There will be at least 12 teachers present on this weekend from all over the country, so its a great way to find an instructor.

Can I book an extra night accommodation?
You can book an extra night directly with the hotel to take full advantage of the facilities.  If you do book an extra night, please let us know so that we ensure the hotel keep you in the same room for your entire stay.

Is my initial deposit refundable if I find I cannot attend and consequently complete my balance payment?
Please go to our T&Cs page HERE for our payment terms, cancellation policy and instructions for transferring a booking to another person.

If I want to get a head start and learn a few moves before I come along where can I find local classes?
